Product Finder

A private research tool that helps its owner decide which products to sell in German-speaking Switzerland.

Purpose of the app

Product Finder runs on its owner's own computer. It collects public statistics and search data for product ideas the owner enters, and shows them side by side, so the owner can compare the ideas and make their own decisions. It only gives advice: it never buys, sells, pays, advertises or publishes anything.

Why it asks for access to Google user data

Product Finder asks its owner to sign in with Google for one reason: to read Google's estimates of how often people search for the keywords of his product ideas. Search interest helps him judge which ideas are worth a closer look. Google provides these estimates only through Keyword Planner in a Google Ads account, so the app needs read access to the owner's own Google Ads account.

How it uses Google Ads

With the owner's permission (Google sign-in, scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords), Product Finder uses the Google Ads API to read Keyword Planner data for the owner's own Google Ads account:

It only reads data. It does not create, change or pause campaigns, ads, budgets or any other part of a Google Ads account, and it does not spend money on advertising.

Who can use it

Product Finder is not offered to the public. Its only user is its owner, who signs in with his own Google account. There are no customer accounts, and no data of other people is collected.

Privacy

How Product Finder handles Google user data is described in the privacy policy.
